Journal Entry:
This is a special morning. I have been invited to the offices of
the Cancer Treatment Research Foundation here in Arlington
Heights.
Should I better say an extraordinary morning? I was privileged to
sit in the Foundation's boardroom and to take part in a
conference call with a cancer survivor-someone who was first told
by her HMO that she had only six months to live. She was
fortunate to enroll in a study sponsored by the Cancer Treatment
Research Foundation; now some three years beyond that dire
prediction, she is doing extremely well.
So much work-so many life-saving studies have been undertaken and
funded by the Foundation (currently over 50 with the number
increasing annually,) at prestigious institutions such as
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, Mt. Sinai
Medical Center in New York, Harvard University in Boston, New
England Medical Center in Boston; Midwestern Regional Medical
Center in Zion, Illinois, and a host of institutions abroad.
It is amazing what can be done-how many lives can be saved-when
we have the will and the means to do it. Yes, we do need your
continued help and support so that others may live. Please help
us to once and for all conquer cancer, to end needless pain and
suffering.
There is still time. Please make your pledge now.
Thank you,
Martin
