Journal Entry:
Scott Hooson and I decided to take a gentle stroll today. We
left in the morning from Saturday's stopping point at Barat
College in Lake Forest, following a wonderful biking trail
across the Wisconsin state line to Kenosha. We ended up at
Carthage College, just on the northern boundry of Kenosha,
Wisconsin.
Scott ran circles around me--and although no time record was
set (or meant to be set), it was a new distance record for me--
some 27.9 miles.
Could I relate yet another story of kindness? Scott and I
stopped for a cold drink. The convenience store cashier asked
what we were doing, where we were going--and after our
explanation, said "you need the energy drink for your trip, you
owe nothing."
Tomorrow is a day off, then on Wednesday I backtrack to Zion to
finish the Celebrate Life Run at Cancer Treatment Centers of
America's Midwestern Regional Medical Center.
I know that I have asked many times for your help, and have
gratefully received so much kindness and so many donations to
our cause. But please remember that cancer respects no limits
and heeds no boundries. We cannot rest until its ravages are
forever stopped.
If you have not already done so, please make your pledge now,
right here on this website (simply click on the link at the
bottom of the left margin of this page) to the Cancer
Treatment Research Foundation where 99 percent--99 cents of
every dollar contributed goes directly to life-saving
research.
Please let us hear your voice.
Thank you,
Martin
