Tulsa Benefit Concert

On the evening of April 8, the day before Martin would launch his journey Martin performed the first of several concerts benefiting CTRF. The concert was held at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, Okla. CTRF's executive director, Dane Duval, emceed the evening.

Martin performed a variety of beautiful classical piano pieces, including “Impromptu Op. 29 in A Flat Major” by Frederic Chopin; “Op. 120 in E Flat Major by Franz Schubert;” and “Etude in D Flat Major, ‘Un Sospiro’” and “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 12” by Franz Liszt.

To celebrate his 60th birthday the following day, Martin was surprised Martin with a gift, cake and an audience rendition of “Happy Birthday” during intermission.

The audience was deeply inspired and appreciative of Martin's great talents and skill. Comemorative shirts and CDs sold at the event quickly sold out. All proceeds from merchandise sales as well as the concert's donation fees will be devoted toward cancer research through CTRF.
